The former middleweight contender recently said that he is no longer staying at the middle weight and decided to move down and fight in the welterweight division.

Demian Maia, the former 185lbs fighter twitted that he is going to face a yet undetermined opponent in the 170lbs division.

Maia who holds a record of 15-4 win-loss card lost two of his last three matches, his latest was losing to Chris Weidman through a unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 2. He also bowed down to Anderson Silva in the middleweight title match at UFC 112.

Maia’s notable victories include Chael Sonnen, Dan Miller Kendall Grove and Nate Quarry.
