Jeff Monson won over Alexey Oleinik at the recent M-1 Challenge 31 through a split decision. The two headlined the event held at the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia Friday.
A former UFC heavyweight contender, Monson outscored Oleinik inside the cage in the first and third round. Oleinik got the second round but was not enough to earn the nod of the judges who scored the bout 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 for the 41 year old Monson.
Monson now parades a 44-13 win loss card and Oleinik got his ninth loss of his career with 33 wins and 1 draw.
Monson won two of his last four fights, winning over Oleinik and Paul Taylor, and bowing down to Fedor Emelianenko and Daniel Cormier in between.
